Who’s the Grinch in this Christmas Story?

WBCN shock jocks Opie and Anthony are boosting their ratings by afflicting the comfortable: they bussed a gang of homeless folks to the Short Hills Mall in Jersey and turned them loose–with gift cards–on a shopping spree. Now the Powers That Be are calling this "a sick and twisted exercise."

Up yours, Mayor Merino. You thumbsuckers won’t even give a panhandler a buck at an intersection, and you talk smack if one shows up with cash at the mall. It might be a stunt, but the down-and-outers get some new duds and a decent meal. Big abuse, that is. Up yours, too, Michelle McPhee. Sounds like Opie and Anthony are doing a better job of advocacy journalism than you are.

Tip from the Drudge Report.

Update (18 December).  I’m beginning to think the Christmas holidays stress some folks out to the point they act like fools.  Now Disney Corporation is claiming they have the rights to Santa Claus. How will they top that next year?  Jesus?  Muhammed?

Tip from Ann Althouse, by way of the Instapundit.

O&A have done this every year they’ve been on the air. Why does ol’ Marble Mouth Menino pick this year to unhinge his jaw?O&A make no bones that this is pure exploitation for entertainment. But at the same time, they take these homeless to *affluent* area malls in front of comfortable people that don’t normally see homeless. Mostly for comic effect, of course.
