Right Ideas, Wrong Reason

The city fathers in Aspen, Colorado, have embarked on a project to fight global warming by making the city carbon-neutral. Unless they can control the variable solar output, slow rising energy use in India and China, get their celebrity visitors to arrive on horseback rather than LearJet, and convince all the skiers to stop passing gas, I think they’re doomed to disappointment. However, they DO have some great energy conservation and generation ideas. Putting solar cells on resort homes and tying into the electrical grid is a very shrewd way to generate income; you actually sell more power when the home isn’t being rented! The bit about reducing "phantom power" use with motion-detecting power strips is pretty good too. Y’all save the planet–I’m checking this stuff out to save money.

I agree. If the enviromental activists can tie whatever behavior they want from me into a sustainable way to save money or make money, then I’m all for it.
