So there IS such a thing as compassionate conservatism

Arthur Brooks of Syracuse University writes:

"For too long, liberals have been claiming they are the most virtuous

members of American society. Although they usually give less to

charity, they have nevertheless lambasted conservatives for their

callousness in the face of social injustice."

Considering that social justice is just a codephrase for communist redistribution, I ain’t surprised. A modern liberal is someone who wants to contribute your money to his charity. I’ve never seen any of my liberal friends give a buck to a down-and-outer, and they’re lousy tippers, too.

Tip from the Freakonomics Blog, where the thumbsuckers are already whining that conservatives give the money to big, greedy churches, and President Bush’s contributions are a big publicity trick. A$$hole$.

Update (27 November).  It’s worse than I thought.  There’s a small, positive correlation between favoring income redistribution and racist attitudes.  And here I thought those folks were just anti-white (but I do remember my college days, when the rich Hollywood types privately sneered at blacks and Mexicans).
