The State Department is suffering massive computer break-ins
Investigators believe hackers stole sensitive U.S.
information and passwords and implanted backdoors in unclassified
government computers to allow them to return at will, said U.S.
officials familiar with the hacking.
Are these people for real? At my unclassified university, our network administrators are continually upgrading security–from firewalls to spam filters–and they lock down our campus network whenever anything hinky pops up. But our Ivy-League-Bigshot-Knowitall State Department? Two Chinese slackers in a Shanghai internet cafe could bring those bozos to their knees.
My wish for 2008 and beyond: elect President Mitt, so he can give the State Department the enema it so richly deserves.
